What defines a community? The most basic definition might be “a group of people living in the same place”.

In Latin, the word for community is "civitas" and is more broadly defined as citizens of a city, fellowship or society. ACE/121 is an affordable housing development designed to attract and support artists and their families. More than an address, we are civitas, a community of creators, professionals and emerging artists alike, who are sharing our artwork in this inaugural exhibit with our city at large. This group exhibit is a representative sample of artwork created by ACE/121 residents and includes work from over 20 different artists exploring multiple media. The common bond of a shared dwelling has brought us together and the artwork being exhibited represents both our creative potential and a higher vision for what community can mean and be.
